The Geeraard is a regional association in Ghent for students from Geraardsbergen. Founded as a small club in 1973, the latest re-establishment was in 2000, the Geeraard is now stronger than ever. The beautiful red and green penetrates deep into the student life in Ghent, where many a student association has heard our name. The fact that we’re growing is no coincidence, but caused by the strong sense of belonging that makes the student from Geraardsbergen more powerful. Every Tuesday night you can find us in our beloved bar ‘t Putje in the infamous Overpoort, where our proud godfather Bjorn will welcome you. We are the anchor of the Geraardsbergen-based students, looking for entertainment outside of the very intense student life, who need social interaction and for whom friendships are a high priority, not afraid to drink a few beers with someone they barely know. We provide several, cheap activities during the year as well. Cocktail and gin nights, fifa tournaments, open mics, the occasional ‘cantus’, participation in the SK Ghendt sports competition (during which we have already won some prizes).
