Together with Home Fabiola, Home Vermeylen is located next to the Overpoort and hosts no less than 456 residents. The home counts eight floors and provides all the facilities for students with a functional impairment. This home houses the ‘permanency service’ (permanentiedienst) and the reception where you can go with all your badge or key related problems. The Housing Office resides here as well. The beautiful garden of our home is the perfect spot to chill when the weather is good. If you want to stay inside, the home council offers plenty of activities. Besides the weekly chill evenings and parties, there are occasional film nights. The home council has much to offer on the cultural level as well: football matches on a big screen, paintball, our own festival and so much more. Our home is named after August Vermeylen: professor, literary jack-of-all trades, cofounder of the journal ‘Van Nu en Straks” and first rector of the dutchified Ghent University (1930).
