The Ghent University Symphony Orchestra (GUSO) is an energetic symphony orchestra, organised for and by students. Driven by its enthusiasm, this diverse group of musicians is taking all the possibilities they can get to play music. GUSO is becoming a well-established name amongst students in Ghent. GUSO ‘dares to play’, which you can spot in the ambition and passion of its seventy active members. During an entire academic year, the musicians work zealously on an exciting programme, which they perform during several concerts in and around Ghent. Our weekly rehearsals take place in the Therminal on Wednesdays from 19:30 to 22:00. Every semester, the orchestra goes on a rehearsal weekend to reach higher musical levels. The autumn trip takes place in Belgium, but for the spring trip, GUSO traditionally goes abroad. GUSO already went to Cambridge, Berlin, Amsterdam, Tuscany, Budapest, Hamburg and Valencia! Besides reaching for a qualitative musical performance, GUSO is a close group of friends that meet up for a number of extra activities. Can’t wait to become a part of our orchestra?
