Filologica is the student association for the Ghent University Linguistics and Literature students. The association was founded in 2004 and has evolved into a real family of Philologists. We want to give our members unforgettable and exceptional student days in an atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Everyone is welcome at our activities: party animals as well as the model student and everything in between. Next to our sports and travel activities we organize parties, sing out loud at our ‘cantusses’ and put on our fancy clothes for our annual gala. For our more culinary minded students, we provide dinners and dessert evenings. Furthermore we support Philologists by organising study sessions for first-year courses and arrange the book sale at the beginning of each academic year. We offer a variety of cultural activities as well. Come take a look at our own play for example, participate in our quizzes or enjoy our cultural fundraising ‘Woorden en Daden’ (Words and Deeds). One of our most important hobbyhorses is our student magazine ‘Dilemma’, written by and for Linguistics and Literature students. Of course you can expect nothing less than fantastic reading material from language students. After we have read our books and dissected some language structures, you can often find us at our favorite bar ‘De Amber’, located in front of our beloved faculty, the Blandijn. Feel free to say hello and maybe you will find out, just like we did, that Filologica was the missing piece of the puzzle that is your life as a student.
